Donald Trump Jr. to Visit Greenland Following President-Elect’s Proposal to Purchase the Country — Trump Reacts
Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to visit Greenland on Tuesday, amid renewed interest from his father, President-elect Donald Trump, in acquiring the Arctic island.
According to a Greenlandic government official, Trump Jr.’s visit is personal, with no planned meetings with government officials or political figures.
However, there are unconfirmed reports that he might meet with Erik Jensen, head of Greenland’s ruling party, AP reported.
According to Fox News, Trump Jr. intends to create video content for his podcast during the trip.

A source familiar with Trump Jr.’s plans told Fox News Digital that the president-elect’s son, who is traveling in a personal capacity, is set to arrive in Nuuk, Greenland, midday Tuesday for meetings with locals, to visit cultural sites and more.
“As someone who has traveled to some fascinating places across the globe as an outdoorsman, I’m excited to stop into Greenland for a little bit of fun this week,” Donald Trump Jr. told Fox News Digital.
A source familiar told Fox News Digital that Trump Jr. is “popping in for a quick day-long trip to shoot some fun video content for podcasting.”
“He will not be meeting with any government officials or political figures,” the source told Fox News Digital.
The trip comes as President-elect Trump seeks to buy the mineral-rich, geographically important territory.
President Donald Trump has expressed his enthusiasm following the announcement that his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., will be visiting Greenland.
“I am hearing that the people of Greenland are “MAGA.” My son, Don Jr, and various representatives, will be traveling there to visit some of the most magnificent areas and sights. Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation. We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”
In August 2019, during his first term, President Donald Trump expressed interest in purchasing Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.
He discussed the idea with his advisers, suggesting that acquiring the island could be strategically beneficial for the United States.
The proposal was met with firm rejections from both Greenlandic and Danish officials. Greenland’s government stated, “We’re open for business, not for sale.”
Then in December last year, President-elect Donald Trump reignited his ambition for U.S. ownership and control of Greenland, declaring it an “absolute necessity” for national security and global freedom.
This renewed interest was announced alongside his selection of PayPal co-founder Ken Howery as the U.S. ambassador to Denmark.
In a statement released on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
I am pleased to announce Ken Howery as my choice for United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark. Ken is a World renowned entrepreneur, investor, and public servant, who served our Nation brilliantly during my First Term as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden, where he led efforts to increase Defense, Security, and Economic Cooperation between our Countries.
As a Co-Founder of PayPal and venture capital fund, Founders Fund, Ken turned American Innovation and Tech leadership into Global success stories, and that experience will be invaluable in representing us abroad.
For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity. Ken will do a wonderful job in representing the interests of the United States. Thank you Ken, and congratulations!
Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede was quick to dismiss the idea but, as the days pass by, he has now publicly emphasized his desire to pursue independence from Denmark, its former colonial ruler.
During his New Year speech, Egede made a significant change in the rhetoric surrounding the island’s future.
‘It is about time that we ourselves take a step and shape our future, also with regard to who we will cooperate closely with, and who our trading partners will be’, he said.
An independence movement has gained traction in Greenland in recent years in part due to revelations of misconduct by Danish authorities during the 20th century, including an involuntary birth control campaign launched in the 1960s.”
