Arctic air has arrived with cold and windy weather in Acadiana
The arctic blast has arrived in Acadiana this Monday with cold and windy conditions. Wind chills are in the teens to 20s to start the day. Highs only reach 44° during the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Northerly winds will gust over 20 mph throughout the day.
The very cold air is expected to stay in the area for a prolonged period. Fortunately, we are not expecting hard freezes at night. Protecting plants and pets is warranted. You may want to wrap any expose pipes that are very sensitive to the cold. The next disturbance arrives late Thursday as temperatures stay above freezing. Winter weather is not in the forecast but heavy rains are possible.
