Level two accident reporting in Emporia, zoo shuts down
EMPORIA (KSNT) - The City of Emporia gave an update on its emergency reporting, trash pickup, sanitation services and zoo operations on Monday.
According to the city, the Emporia Police Department is in a level two accident reporting phase due to the winter weather. The reporting phase will remain in effect until road conditions improve. You can click here to see what streets are on the plow route.
The city reports there will be no residential trash pickup, recycling service, or roll-off services on Monday. Sanitation services typically picked up on Mondays will be picked up on Wednesday.
The Emporia Zoo will be closed all day on Monday due to the weather conditions.
"Our dedicated zookeepers are on-site, ensuring the animals are well cared for and comfortable despite the severe cold," a City of Emporia spokesperson said.
The City of Emporia/Lyon County Recycling Center will also be closed with business expected to resume on Tuesday.
