Antonin Kinsky faces race against time to debut in Tottenham v Liverpool
Despite completing the signing of Antonin Kinsky in a swift £12.5 million deal, Tottenham Hotspur fans may need to wait a little longer to see the young Czech Republic international in action, as work permit delays cast doubt over his availability for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Liverpool.
Tottenham sign Czech U21 international Antonin Kinsky
Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of Antonin Kinsky, a 21-year-old goalkeeper who has already made a name for himself as a standout performer for the Czech Republic U21 side.
The deal, reportedly worth £12.5 million, sees Kinsky leave Slavia Prague and commit his future to Spurs for the next six years, a move that highlights the club’s continued focus on nurturing young talent under Ange Postecoglou.
Although Kinsky completed his medical successfully on Sunday, bureaucratic hurdles have delayed his integration into the squad.
Work permit delays threaten Antonin Kinsky’s Liverpool debut
The likelihood of Antonin Kinsky featuring in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool has been described as “unlikely at the moment” due to ongoing delays with his work permit.
The process, which can take up to 48 hours to finalise, remains incomplete, leaving the Czech goalkeeper in limbo as Tottenham prepare for one of their most critical fixtures of the season.
This report comes from Tom Barclay in a tweet on X where he stated: “New Tottenham signing Antonin Kinsky featuring against Liverpool on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg viewed as unlikely at the moment because he is still yet to receive his work permit, which can take up to 48 hours to receive”
What Antonin Kinsky’s delay means for Tottenham going forward
This setback means Ange Postecoglou will likely have to rely on alternative options in goal, with Brandon Austin—who started in the previous match against Newcastle United—a likely candidate to retain his place, particularly if veteran goalkeeper Fraser Forster remains unavailable due to illness.
As for Kinsky, his debut will not come in the Carabao Cup. However, the FA Cup clash against Tamworth is most likely when the Spurs faithful will see their new signing in action.
