Dem mocks GOP on Fox News: Trump's 'circular firing squad' will 'blow up the deficit'
Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) warned that so-called fiscal hawks in the Republican Party were poised to "blow up the deficit" if they followed President-elect Donald Trump's plan to cut taxes while funding mass deportations.
During a Sunday interview on Fox News, host Mike Emanuel asked Auchincloss about working with Republicans to enact the "Trump agenda" in the new Congress.
"On Iran, I think a program that puts pressure on Iran, now that they're on their back heels because the United States supported Israel under Joe Biden, we have a position where Iran is really flailing," the Democrat replied. "And when your enemy is flailing, I think you want to push harder."
Auchincloss also pointed to Trump's priority on stopping fentanyl deaths as a possible area of agreement.

"Now, if Republicans are going to lead off, though, with this massive partisan reconciliation bill, I think they're going to be in a circular firing squad for quite a while," he cautioned.
"I don't know how their fiscal hawks are going to be able to justify at a time when the stock market is up, jobs are up, wages are up, that they have to give tax cuts to corporations and the wealthiest and blow up the deficit," Auchincloss added.
