Keen to show off her kitchen’s new look, busy mum Gem Cee took to social media, sharing before and after photos of her DIY project, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on DIY On A Budget, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, alongside pictures of her pad, Gem wrote: “Council house kitchen.
“Crazy what a bit of Fablon can do.”
What were once boring, brown cupboards, have since been given a mega makeover, thanks to the self-adhesive plastic.
Now, Gem’s cupboards are a stylish navy blue – an on-trend, yet timeless shade.
She then added: “Still got to do the flooring, but it’s getting there.”
Gem then confirmed that to add style to her kitchen, she nabbed a three piece breakfast bar table set from Amazon.
She also revealed that to transform her kitchen cupboards, which saved her thousands of pounds on getting new kitchen units, she used navy matt Fablon, which she bought from The Range.
She then confirmed: “It’s Fablon on the cupboards, not paint.
“I used six rolls in total.”
Gem later shared: “I’ve been putting it off for two years then eventually thought sod it, in doing it.”
We think Gem’s kitchen looks fabulous and considering it was done on a tight budget, we’re very impressed with her purse-friendly project.
And clearly many others were too, as Gem’s post has quickly racked up 1,900 likes and 263 comments.

To this, Gem replied and confirmed: “It’s very easy, I managed to do it with a seven and three year old messing around.
“In total it did take me two weeks due to having to stop and start.
“The only difficult bit was the fake drawer under the sink, literally unscrew the handles on the cupboards and stick it down then cut.”
Whilst another DIY enthusiast wondered: “Is this easily scratch or marked?”
In response, Gem confirmed: “Not really, these photos were taken three weeks after I did them, and I have a three year old and a seven year old constantly inside the cupboards.”
