Spurs ‘consider’ whether to bring central defender back to England
Over the last couple of days, Tottenham Hotspur have been backed to make a move for Fikayo Tomori, and a report has now shed light on the reason why Spurs are now considering whether to sign the England international.
Tottenham willing to offer Fikayo Tomori a route back England
Tomori, who has been a mainstay in the AC Milan backline in previous years, has fallen down the pecking order this campaign and is no longer a regular starter.
It emerged earlier this week that the 27-year-old is keen on leaving the San Siro in search of regular game time and that Spurs may offer him a route back into the Premier League.
However, Fabrizio Romano has since pointed out that Milan have made a managerial change, with Sergio Conceicao replacing Paulo Fonseca, with the defender’s future very much dependent on Conceicao’s assessment of him.
Why Spurs became interested in Tomori
TEAMtalk have now provided an update on the transfer story, revealing that it was not Tottenham who made an approach for the centre-back, but rather the defender who was offered to the North London club.
The report claims that it is ‘very possible’ that Tomori will find an exit route out of Milan this month.
The outlet adds that Spurs are now ‘considering’ whether to push ahead with a move for the former Chelsea man, with the player’s camp remaining hopeful that they can find a way out of the Serie A club.
Why Tomori might not be too keen to join Tottenham
If Tomori’s main motivation in leaving Milan is to get regular starts under his belt, Spurs might not be the right destination for him.
The Milan man is not going to be in Tottenham’s starting lineup if Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are fit.
If the 27-year-old asks for guarantees over game time, Postecoglou is not going to be in a position to make him any such promises.
