'Trump said no': D.C. insider recalls when President-elect rejected Jimmy Carter's request
A Washington, D.C., insider reminded MSNBC viewers on Saturday about the time Donald Trump reportedly rejected a request for funds from the now-deceased Jimmy Carter.
Longtime Washington insider Jonathan Alter, who wrote a book about Trump's criminal trial, has previously commented about the President-elect's state-based criminal case.
Alter appeared on MSNBC over the weekend to talk about the passing of former President Carter.

Over the course of the appearance, Alter told the story of how Carter came to build his empire of charity.
"And he went around and raised money. He asked Donald Trump for money at Trump Tower and Trump said no," he said. "But enough other people said yes, that they were able to do this very unique institution that had never been done by a former President."
Indeed, the Washington Post has also reported on this story.
"Trump thought Carter had 'guts' to ask him for a big donation," according to the news outlet. "But he still turned him down."
