Bears safety Jaquan Brisker misses final 12 games after concussion derailed him in October
Bears safety Jaquan Brisker won't play against the Packers on Sunday, meaning his season ended Oct. 6 when he suffered a concussion against the Panthers. He played just five games and missed the final 12.
Brisker, 25, has had three documented concussions in the first three seasons of his NFL career. It is not known definitively whether he had any at Penn State or in high school.
"There's always the human side and the health side and we want to make sure he's in a good place and stays healthy," general manager Ryan Poles said in October, the last time the Bears have given an update on Brisker. "We'll take our time and make sure he's completely healthy and make sure the training staff is involved in that to make sure he's in a good place now and into the future."
Poles picked Brisker in the second round (No. 48 overall) in 2022, his first draft class. His rookie contract expires at the end of next season, putting him up for contract extension negotiations this offseason. It will be difficult, however, for the team to decide on his future given the concerns about his health.
In 35 career games, Brisker has 249 tackles, including six sacks, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
