Robbie Williams reveals hilarious reason why he’s excited to attend Golden Globes
ROBBIE WILLIAMS can’t wait for the Golden Globes tonight – to show off his new gnashers.
The Let Me Entertain You singer has revealed his delight that millions of fans worldwide will see his new white teeth instead of his “yellow nubs” at the ceremony.
The Stoke-on-Trent star is proud to have swapped his plaque-ridden teeth for a sparkling white set in the summer.
He made his admission while still riding high from being nominated for Best Original Song for Forbidden Road, from his new biopic Better Man.
Robbie, with wife Ayda Field, said: “I have got brand new teeth, so whoever’s about to meet me is about to meet me with brand new American teeth and not the British yellow nubs that I used to have. I am so excited.”
The pair were among the A-listers, including those above, at pre-Golden Globes bash, The Palm Springs International Film Festival, on Friday.
The annual event piggybacks tonight’s main awards in Los Angeles — which takes place in the early hours of tomorrow for us in the UK.
Robbie joked that he is a diva about now being in Hollywood’s sights after three decades of being an unknown.
He said: “I am as excited as anybody else at meeting famous people.
“Honestly, on the evening, there’ll be an 11-year-old inside me going, ‘Oh, guess what? Look who is over there?’
“Yeah. I’ll be super-excited. It’s very exciting. I feel like a brand new artist experiencing new experiences in a brand new time at the end table. It’s fabulous.”
Speaking at the festival’s lunch for first-time Golden Globes nominees, he added: “It is always nice being invited to the party, even though normally I don’t go. But I really wanted to come.
I feel very fortunate to be nominated and very lucky to be invited here.”
The singer recently saw his dream of winning an Oscar crushed amid allegations that Forbidden Road sounded similar to a 1970s entrant.
Academy Award bosses have now officially disqualified the track from the Best Original Song category.
According to Academy Rule 18 Section 1-B, original songs must be written specifically for the film in question.
A letter sent out to Oscar voters confirmed that Forbidden Road “incorporates material from an existing song that was not written for the film”.
And they concluded that it was therefore ineligible for an Oscar and it was removed from the shortlist. Boo.
Cynthia looks Wicked
CYNTHIA Erivo showed off witch-like talons to match her Wicked character, Elphaba.
The star, nominated for Best Performace In A Musical Or Comedy at the Globes, donned a monochrome gown on the red carpet with a plunging white collar.
Kidman’s touching tribute
NICOLE Kidman broke down in tears as she gave an emotional speech at the Palm Springs International Film Awards.
She collected the International Star gong from Jamie Lee Curtis and wept that her late parents, Janelle and Antony, didn’t get to see her special moment on Friday.
Nicole, nominated at the Golden Globes for best actress in Baby Girl said: “I went home at Christmas. I’ve lost both my parents and I am, like, this is different now. They’ve given me the love and strength to keep moving forward.”
Janelle died in September after a short illness.
Antony had a fatal heart heart attack in 2014.
Nicole was also pictured towering over Ariana Grande, who won the rising star gong for Wicked.
Reindeer rules
BABY Reindeer stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning have been warned by Netflix lawyers NOT to discuss the ongoing legal controversy over the series.
It comes as Fiona Harvey, the real-life inspiration for stalker Martha in the show – nominated for Best TV Limited Series, Best Male Actor In a Limited Series and Best Female Supporting Actor, TV – is suing the streaming giant for defamation.
An insider said: “Stars will shy away from making comments or references to the legal fight, which goes to trial in May.”
Ricky’s advice
COMIC Ricky Gervais has urged the new Golden Globes host, comedienne Nikki Glaser, to follow his 2020 presenting approach and roast Hollywood’s biggest stars on stage.
The first female solo host admitted she plans to mock Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
Nikki said: “I reached out to Ricky . . . He told me, ‘Just be yourself. You’re not one of them. Don’t try to walk out there acting like you’re an A-lister just because you’re invited. You wouldn’t be if you weren’t the host’.”
Nikki added: “I’m really looking forward to finding the perfect way to skewer Cynthia and Ariana – my goal is to make a joke that they both laugh at.
“Because if they laugh, then the whole room will just break and go, ‘OK let’s all have fun’.”
Angelina’s sly swipe
ANGELINA JOLIE seemingly took a subtle swipe at ex-husband Brad Pitt on her first red carpet appearance after their divorce was finalised.
Sporting a new blonde hairdo, the actress said being a single mother to her six kids made her feel her greatest self, as she was honoured with the Desert Palm Achievement Award for her work in movie Maria.
Jolie, who has also been nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her portrayal of legendary opera singer Maria Callas, has settled her court fight with Pitt after eight years.
Mentioning eldest daughter Zahara, who was at the awards with her, she said: “There was Maria and there was Callas; Callas was loved, but Maria was often alone.
“But I’m around today because when I walk off this stage, I am more myself because of you, Zahara, and your brothers and sisters. I love you.”
Some goodie bag
LUCKY guests at the Golden Globes will take home a goodie bag worth $1million (around £800k).
If that’s not nuts enough, it includes a voucher for a facelift worth £30,000.
Other highlights include a five-day yacht vacation in Indonesia, hypnosis treatments and, erm, dog food.

Phil’s 007 snub
TED Lasso actor Phil Dunster has revealed his agent held talks with James Bond boss Barbara Broccoli about him being the new 007 – but got knocked back.
Asked on a podcast if “Team Broccoli” ever reached out to “Team Phil”, the hunky Jack Grealish lookalike said: “There was a conversation one of my agents had but they quite firmly shut the door in their face.”
Ouch.

Ruben set on Maya
MAYA JAMA and Ruben Dias have gone Instagram official thanks to the Man City ace’s post of the couple cuddled up together watching the sunset.
The pair have been secretly dating after meeting at September’s MTV Europe Music Awards, in Manchester.
Maya and Ruben have been holidaying in Spain, where they saw the new year in together.
An insider said: “It’s early days, but they’re smitten. He has introduced her to his friends and family and Maya has got everyone’s approval.”
In a recent interview Maya said ex Stormzy is firmly in the past saying: “We’re happy in this friendship zone.”

LOVE Island All Stars is only a week away, but there are still some surprise comebacks in store.
I can reveal that stunning brunette actress Olivia Hawkins, from Winter Love Island 2023, is making a shock return.
It comes after the one-time Michelle Keegan body double, left, split from her on-screen bloke Maxwell Samuda shortly after the show wrapped.
A source said: “Olivia is really excited to be returning to South Africa and continuing her Love Island journey.
“She feels like she’s got lots to offer still and would love to meet someone. She’s adored the limelight since she first came out of the villa, but would like to find romance.”
Other Love Island stars set to return include Curtis Pritchard and Scott Thomas.
An ITV spokeswoman said: “All the names are speculation. The line-up will be announced in due course.”
