Two-alarm fire knocked down in abandoned Southeast Portland building
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A two-alarm fire at an abandoned commercial building in Southeast Portland prompted response from fire crews early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Just before 3 a.m., crews responded to reports of a fire at an abandoned building near Southeast 99th Avenue between Southeast Stark Street and Washington.
When firefighters arrived and entered the building, they reported heavy smoke with fire above them.
The call was upgraded to second-alarm due to the size of the structure and extent of the smoke, officials said. Crews then went on the roof to ventilate the building.
The main body of the fire was knocked down 20 minutes after crews arrived on scene, authorities said.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
