Guardians News and Notes - The Free Agent Market Shrinks
News and Notes for Saturday, January 4th, 2025
On March 18th, 2024 the Los Angeles Dodgers flew to Korea to face the country team in an exhibition match. During that game, lead off hitter for Korea, Hye-seong Kim went 1-for-3 with a double. Almost a year later, Hye-seong Kim will be joining the Dodgers on a 3-year deal.
The Baltimore Orioles signed 41-year-old RHP Charlie Morton to a 1-year contract.
The list of free agents continues to dwindle each day. There are still a handful of 2nd basemen and center fielders that are worth fan speculation, but what is the likelihood that the Cleveland Guardians will sign anyone else this season? There are quite a few remaining free agents that could be a legitimate improvement on the roster, especially after the Gimenez and Naylor trade. The team shouldn’t go out and sign just anyone or sign a contract that is worth more than a player should be valued, but for once I wish they would focus on winning the whole thing instead of what might happen 3-5 years from now.
MLB sat with Tom Hamilton to speak about his upcoming Cooperstown induction later this year.
It's going to be a good year for @CleGuardians voice Tom Hamilton.
