Midfielder ‘very calm’ amid speculation linking him with Spurs move
One La Liga midfielder, who Spurs are reportedly making an offer for this month, has now lifted the lid on what he thinks about the intensifying speculation over his future.
Tottenham thinking about pushing ahead summer plans to January
Spurs know that they can sign Johnny Cardoso for £25m this summer, with the Lilywhites acquiring the option last summer as part of the deal to take Giovani Lo Celso back to Real Betis.
However, according to reports over recent weeks, the Lilywhites are now considering bringing forward their plans and signing the 24-year-old in January.
The North London club could face intense competition for the USA international if they do make a move as some outlets have revealed that he is on the radars of AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid.
Johnny Cardoso breaks silence on his future
The midfielder has now spoken about his current situation, insisting that he is focused on achieving his objects at Real Betis this season.
Speaking to Marca, Cardoso said: “I feel good, this motivates me even more to continue working, evolving and seeking to achieve great goals.”
The Spanish outlet then quizzed him about the fact that his name continues to be linked with a number of clubs around Europe and asked him if that could lead him to lose focus.
The American responded: “Not for me, I have a very calm head about this, I try to stay focused on the present and continue working to help Betis, I leave that in the hands of my father and my agent.”
Tottenham may wait and watch if others make a move
Spurs would ideally prefer to wait until next summer to sign Cardoso, given the clause they have for the player.
However, if the Lilywhites notice that another club is pushing ahead with a move in January, they might be forced to get involved in the transfer race.
While a number six might not be Tottenham’s priority in January, Yves Bissouma‘s inconsistency does pose Ange Postecoglou a problem and Cardoso might be identified as the solution.
