Wheel of Fortune fans slam ‘lazy’ ITV game show as Graham Norton returns for new series
ITV viewers have not held back on their opinions of Wheel of Fortune as the new series continued on ITV.
The iconic game show returned to ITV last year fronted by presenter Graham Norton, and now the new series has already irked viewers at home.
The familiar wheel and clues returned yet viewers at home have criticised the show as they thought some of the clues were “lazy” and “too easy”.
Writing on X, one viewer said: “I like Graham Norton, but some of these “phrases” are a load of b*******.”
Another shared: “#WheelOfFortune is without a shadow of a doubt the s******t gameshow ever.“
Another said: “The worst game show and host on tv.”
“Omg how easy is this show now,” shared a third.
“Christ on a bike, why have they resurrected this garbage,” said a fifth.
Another commented after one contestant had won the grand prize of £50,000 alongside her £10,450 earnings, as they pointed out: “She got £50000 for that? They could have made it a little bit harder.”
This isn’t the first time ITV viewers have pushed back on the rebooted game show, as they also shared their opinions when the series first returned last week.
ITV aired a new episode on the Saturday night and then annoyed viewers again by repeating it on Sunday, but marketing it as “a new episode”.
Iconic game show Wheel of Fortune ran from 1998 until 2001, but returned to ITV earlier this month.
The show is now hosted by BBC talk show host Graham Norton, who took over from previous presenters John Leslie, Nicky Campbell and Bradley Walsh.
Wheel of Fortune had already received a lot of criticism after it cut the role of the “glamorous assistant” — previously held by Carol Smillie and Jenny Powell — and the tiles have been replaced by a digital board.
New episodes of Wheel of Fortune air on Saturdays at 6pm on ITV1 and are available to stream on ITVX.
