The Biden regime has announced a $306 million investment to bolster bird flu monitoring and preparedness efforts across the United States to combat a so-called “potential bird flu outbreak” among humans, right before handing over the reins to President-elect Donald Trump.

In November, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the first-ever case of avian influenza A(H5N1), commonly known as H5N1 bird flu, in a child in the United States.

The young patient, a resident of California, reportedly experienced mild symptoms and has since been recovering following treatment with flu antivirals.

Last week, the CDC confirmed the first severe U.S. human case of H5N1 bird flu in a 65-year-old Louisiana man who had contact with sick backyard birds.

Predictably, experts are now sounding the alarms about the virus’s supposed mutations and potential for human transmission.

According to AP, genetic analysis of the virus revealed mutations in the hemagglutinin (HA) gene, which experts claim could increase the virus’s ability to infect humans.

These mutations were allegedly absent in samples from the infected birds on the patient’s property, suggesting that the virus may have mutated post-infection.

Meanwhile, California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in response to the recent bird flu outbreak.

Dr. Leana Wen, the Communist doctor who demanded Americans lose all their rights during the Covid pandemic, appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday to discuss the Bird Flu outbreak.

Now, Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is set to distribute $306 million to enhance monitoring, testing, and response capabilities across the United States.

According to the press release:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it would award $306 million dollars to continue its H5N1 Avian Flu response. While CDC’s assessment of the risk of avian influenza to the general public remains low, USDA and HHS continue to closely collaborate with Federal, State, local, industry and other stakeholders to protect human health, animal health, and food safety.

“While the risk to humans remains low, we are always preparing for any possible scenario that could arise. These investments are critical to continuing our disease surveillance, laboratory testing, and monitoring efforts alongside our partners at USDA,” said Secretary Xavier Becerra. “Preparedness is the key to keeping Americans healthy and our country safe. We will continue to ensure our response is strong, well equipped, and ready for whatever is needed.”

ASPR will award approximately $183 million in additional funding for regional, state and local preparedness programs:

• $90 million to the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP)
• $10 million to the National Emerging Special Pathogens Training and Education Center (NETEC) 
• $26 million to the Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Centers (RESPTCs)
• $43 million to the Special Pathogen Treatment Centers (SPTCs) Avian Influenza Preparedness and Response Activities
• $14 million to replenish equipment and supply caches for the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS)

CDC will award approximately $111 million in funding for additional enhancements to our ability to monitor H5N1 at the local, state and national levels:

• $103 million to jurisdictions for increased monitoring of individuals exposed to infected animals, testing, and outreach to high-risk populations (such as livestock workers)
• $8 million to manufacture, store, and distribute additional influenza diagnostic test kits for virologic surveillance

NIH will award approximately $11 million in funding for additional research into potential medical countermeasures for H5N1:

• $11 million to the Centers for Excellence for Influenza Research and Response contracts

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth vowed to take back the Panama Canal because he said that he could "feel" communism there when he visited.

While speaking to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, Hegseth reflected on his recent trip to Panama.

"Well, President Trump said at a State of the Union address, China has too much influence over the Panama Canal and America is gonna take it back and that's exactly what I was charged to do what we're continuing to do," the defense secretary insisted. "Chinese influence cannot control our own backyard, especially a critical waterway key terrain like the Panama Canal."

"I want to thank President Molina, a pro-Trump, pro-America president of Panama who's sticking his neck out against communists, whose influence was real there, he continued. "Maria, we could see it; you could feel it."
