Tracee Ellis Ross Plays With Textures in PVC and Patent Leather Saint Laurent Chica Slingbacks at WWD Style Awards 2025
Tracee Ellis Ross attended the star-studded 2025 WWD Style Awards yesterday in Los Angeles. Ross was honored with the publication’s Fashion Trailblazer Award.
Gracing the red carpet, the “American Fiction” star donned a pair of sleek Saint Laurent Chica slingback heels. Ross’ designer pick included mixed material uppers in glossy black patent leather and clear PVC. Triangular toes adorned with gathered patent leather gave way to leather soles and elasticized slingback straps that acted to keep the silhouette in place on the feet.
Saint Laurent’s iconic logo can be found embossed on the insoles in high-shine gold font. Finally, 4.5-inch stiletto heels rounded out the set, imparting the illusion of length and height. The PVC detailing offers a futuristic twist that sets the otherwise classic slingback apart from the rest. For those looking to channel Ross’ Style Awards footwear moment, the Saint Laurent silhouette can be shopped pre-loved via second-hand sites.
Playing with textures, Ross sported what appeared to be a black form-fitted jumpsuit decorated with silver eyelet detailing. Layered overtop, the thespian styled an Alaia belt made of lush black leather fixed with loops of fringy leather.
Ross always gives a masterclass in style. Her shoe wardrobe is just as impressive, ranging from pumps to sandals and boots from labels like Versace, Andrea Wazen and Gucci, among other top brands. When she’s not in heels, the Golden Globe Award winner will likely complete her looks with various sneaker silhouettes. She always offers sneaker outfit inspiration by proving that classic kicks can be styled in several different ways.
Women’s Wear Daily honored the fashion and beauty tastemakers, muses and legends whose creativity, craft and style create magic on the red carpet at the inaugural WWD Style Awards presented Friday in Los Angeles. Honorees included Tracee Ellis Ross, Anna Sawai, Wes Gordon, Kate Young, Chris Appleton, Pati Dubroff, Iván Pol and Jamie Taylor.
