Tottenham on the verge of first January deal; medical set to begin later today
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to complete their first signing of the January transfer window, having verbally agreed a deal.
Spurs have swiftly addressed goalkeeper shortage
Tottenham’s number one, Guglielmo Vicario, is out with a long-term injury, and with Fraser Forster also down with an illness, Brandon Austin is expected to make his debut for the club against Newcastle United today.
It is certainly not an ideal situation for Ange Postecoglou’s side, with the 25-year-old’s last senior appearance coming all the way back in 2021 during his loan spell in MLS side Orlando City.
It looks like Tottenham have not wasted any time in plugging the gap in the squad, with the club reportedly striking a deal to sign a young goalkeeper.
Spurs have agreed deal to sign Czech shot-stopper
Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs have agreed a deal with Slavia Prague to sign Antonin Kinsky.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper became the number one at Slavia Prague at the start of this season and has made 19 appearances so far, conceding just seven goals and keeping 12 clean sheets.
According to Romano, Tottenham have struck a verbal agreement with the Czech club as well as the player, with the youngster expected to have his medical at Hotspur Way following this afternoon’s clash against Newcastle.
Romano wrote: “Tottenham are on the verge of signing Slavia Prague GK Antonín Kinsky, he’s in London today for medical to follow — as @infotbal reveals.
“Verbal agreement done between all parties involved including player side, Kinski should undergo medical after today’s game.”
Have Tottenham pulled off another deal under the radar?
Since Johan Lange arrived as technical director, Spurs have tended to operate in secrecy, negotiating deals under the radar and ensuring that the news does not leak to the press.
The club successfully did that with their signing of Wilson Odobert in the summer, and it appears they have done so again with Antonin Kinsky.
