Ange Postecoglou reveals the plan for Yang Min-hyeok at Tottenham
Yang Min-hyeok has arrived at Tottenham and is starting to settle in. However, Ange Postecoglou pleads for patience and says the 18-year-old needs time.
Yang Min-hyeok is an exciting prospect
While Tottenham’s current form is well off where they would like to be, their future has much to be excited about.
As the K-League season has now concluded, 18-year-old Yang Min-hyeok has joined up with the Tottenham squad. He joins a collection of standout players within his age group including Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Mikey Moore who is a year younger.
Yang’s ability to play on either wing is especially exciting as the first team requires depth in that area. However, Yang’s acclimatisation to the Premier League will likely make it hard for him to contribute in the short term.
Ange Postecoglou says there is ‘no timeline’ for Yang Min-hyeok
Ange Postecoglou was asked if there is a plan for Yang’s progression ahead of Spurs’ fixture against Newcastle.
Speaking to FootballLondon, Postecoglou said “No real plan or timeline. Let him settle.
“He’s still very young and he’s coming from the other side of the world where the level is nowhere near what he’ll face here. He’s got Sonny here which is a big help for him.”
Yang had an impressive season, but settling at Spurs will take time
12 goals and 5 assists across one season as an 18-year-old in a senior league cannot be underestimated. Yang plays with an assurance at such a young age, which is a promising sign for his future development.
However, his acclimatisation to English football goes beyond the pitch. This second half of the season will likely prove useful for Yang to get used to living in London and existing at a top-flight football club, the magnitude of which should not be underestimated for someone so young.
Yang’s innate talent may surprise us all and he could hit the ground running. However, it is best to temper expectations and allow him to find his feet so that he can positively aid Spurs in the future.
