Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott fans convinced they ‘know who was behind split’ after emotional declaration of love
FANS think they know the reason behind Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott’s split after five years together.
The pairs break-up came as a huge shock, particularly as just last month Sam, 32, wished 28-year-old Zara happy birthday, and gushed about how they would be together forever.
In that Instagram post he called Zara, his “best friend” and “soul mate”, who will be “stuck with me forever”.
But fans believe it was his lack of response to what they were asking him to do in the comments, which led to their split.
The comments section next to Sam’s post would have left him in no doubt as to what his followers wanted him to do next, that was to ask Zara to marry him.
One said: “In the words of Beyonce. If you like it then you should put a ring on it.”
And another said: “If she is going to be with you forever, why not put a ring on it. What are you waiting for.”
Two more comments echoing similar sentiments said: “Propose, no time like the present,” and “Mate, buy her a ring FFS”.
And one fan is now simply unable to fathom how it’s gone from Sam declaring his undying love for Zara, to splitting up so soon afterwards.
They asked: “How can going to be together two weeks ago to splitting up days later…this is rather extreme!!”
It was also recently reported that Sam’s family, and in particular his sister Louise, had found it difficult to completely forgive Zara after she cheated on him.
That was with music exec Brahim Fourad, during Zara’s stint on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.
But despite putting on a united front, cracks are thought to have been showing in Sam and Zara’s relationship over the last year.
In July, I’m A Celeb winner Sam was pictured in tears on a London street and had to be comforted by best pal and Strictly star Pete Wicks.
At the time he sought to reassure fans he was ok, saying: “I wasn’t crying, I wasn’t actually crying. I just want to let everyone know that now.”
But he did go on to admit he had recieved some bad news at the time, but wouldn’t divulge what it was.
He said: “There’s no way of getting around it, I had actually received some bad news, so I actually was really sad.
“I’m not going to lie about it, but I was.”
It was also reported during that period that Zara packed her bags and temporarily left the home they used to share together.
