A T-shirt accidentally got caught in the Spidercam – which is used to give fans a closer look at the action.
It meant the monitor was covered – causing a scramble for the technicians.
The camera was no longer sending signals but after 20 minutes everything was back to normal.
Van Gerwen also went onto win 6-1 setting up a mouthwatering final against Littler at Ally Pally TONIGHT.
It will also mark the final time fans will get to see the pom pom waving PDC cheerleaders who have so far lit up the tournament.
The team includes stalwart Sophie May Lambert, who has been on the circuit since 2013.
Tattooed Sophie has 26,000 followers on Instagram, as well as 45,000 on TikTok.
