Powerball winner in Ohio misses chance to claim $138 million jackpot
HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WCMH) — The owner of a winning Powerball ticket purchased in Ohio has missed the chance to claim a multi-million dollar prize.
The $138,000,000 Powerball jackpot was won on July 3, after the winning ticket was purchased at a Walmart on Brandt Pike in Huber Heights. The auto-pick ticket matched all five numbers plus the Powerball. The winning numbers were 2-26-33-55-57, and the Powerball number was 22.
The deadline to claim the prize was Dec. 30. Had the winner presented the ticket, they could have chosen to receive the money as a 30-year annuity or a lump sum of $65.8 million cash.
“Sales generated in Ohio that contributed to the jackpot go to the unclaimed prize fund which becomes part of lottery profit to help support education in Ohio,” the Ohio Lottery explained on its website. “Ohio will retain approximately $1.9 million.”
