Two boys, 16 & 18, killed in New Year’s Day horror crash as girl, also 16, fighting for her life & five others injured
TWO teenage boys have died in a horror crash which has also left a 16-year-old girl fighting for her life just an hour into New Year’s Day.

William Herbert, 16, was one of the victims of the horror collison[/caption] Olly Mitchell, 18, was killed in the New Year’s Day crash[/caption] The smash took place on Staithes Road, Preston[/caption]William was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while Olly later died of his injuries in his hospital.
Cops said the incident occurred when a grey Volkswagen Golf was travelling along Staithes Road away from Preston just an hour into New Year’s Day.
It then collided with a black Vauxhall Grandland travelling towards Preston, just an hour into New Year’s Day.
Emergency services attended however William died at the scene, and Olly later died in hospital from his injuries.
Other passengers included a 16-year-old girl who remains in a critical but stable condition, and a 17-year-old boy who remains in a serious but stable condition.
A 62-year-old man who was a passenger of the Vaxuhall Grandland, was also rushed to hospital to receive treatment for injuries.
It’s been confirmed that these are no longer life threatening.
Alongside the driver was a 34-year-old woman who sustained a serious injury to her arm.
Two other passengers also suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday 1 January on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
Officers continue to appeal for anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the collision, who has dashcam footage or witnessed the collision.
Their families continue to be supported by specialist trained officers and both families have asked for their privacy at this extremely difficult time.
