Abortion Activists are Already Complaining Trump’s Policies Will Save Babies
Never let it be said that Guttmacher, the preeminent pro-abortion think-tank formerly allied with Planned Parenthood, would ever go conservative in its rhetoric. For Guttmacher Apocalypse Now is always—always—just around the corner.
For Planned Parenthood to have had 100% entry into the Biden-Harris administration which funneled hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into the hands of this “non-profit” (which takes in an estimated $1.6 billion in annual revenue) and then catch sight of the incoming Administration of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, they could be forgiven if they break into a cold sweat.
So, we get Guttmacher’s “10 Reasons a Second Trump Presidency Will Decimate Sexual and Reproductive Health.”

Not hamper, not put a crimp in, not slow down, not even ruin but decimate! In their “Policy Analysis,” Anna Bernstein, Amy Friedrich-Karnik, and Samira Damavandi are pulling out all the stops to amp up their pro-abortion supporters.
What specific areas are going to be “decimated”? They list ten. I’ll address five.
* Severely restricting “Access” to the abortion pill. This is working its way through the courts but Guttmacher is worried HHS will take a much closer look at the “science” that supposedly documents the abortion pill’s “safety.”
* Reinstating the domestic and global “gag rule.” In AbortionSpeak, it is “gagging” groups to say they must choose between receiving money from the federal government to promote genuine family planning or being barred from receiving money from the federal government when they advance abortion.
* “Undoing President Biden’s protective administrative actions.” What, for example? How about what Biden/Harris administration did with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act? EMTALA was a Reagan-era law that requires emergency rooms to provide or help facilitate life-saving care to those unable to pay, including pregnant women and their unborn children.
Biden-Harris turned that life-affirming law on its head by requiring hospital emergency rooms to be abortion facilities. But “EMTALA does not mention abortion but does mention four times the requirement to provide stabilizing care for both a pregnant woman and her ‘unborn child,’” proof-positive of the pro-life intent of this 1986 law.
They are many other examples of “decimation” in Guttmacher’s jeremiad. Here’s one more with some serious financial consequences:
* “Defunding Planned Parenthood.” As noted in “THE STATE OF ABORTION IN THE UNITED STATES,” PPFA “receives well over $670.4 million through federal, state, and local government grants and contracts.” The report goes on to write
“Pro-life forces in Congress have made repeated attempts to enact a new law to deny PPFA eligibility for federal funds. In December, 2015, the Senate for the first time passed legislation (H.R. 3762) that would disqualify PPFA from receiving funds under Medicaid and certain other federal programs, and the House gave final approval to this legislation on January 6, 2016. However, President Obama vetoed this bill on January 8, 2016, and the veto was sustained. The U.S. House has since voted numerous times to defund PPFA, but none of these measures has passed the U.S. Senate.”
Prior to his first term in office, President-elect Trump wrote a letter to pro-life leaders, saying “I am committed to…defunding Planned Parenthood as long as they continue to perform abortions, and re-allocating their funding to community health centers that provide comprehensive health care for women.”
In an October 2024 interview, Trump’s pro-life running mater Sen. J.D. Vance, responding to a question, said that defunding Planned Parenthood was “a consistent view of the Trump campaign the first time around. It will remain a consistent view.”
