Hudson Crossing Park to hold free winter programs
SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Hudson Crossing Park in Schuylerville will be hosting three free programs this winter, the facility announced on Thursday. The events, which are supported by the New York State Canal Corporation’s “On the Canals” program, will give participants the opportunity to interact with nature and celebrate the winter season.
The first of the programs, Capturing Winter On The Canals, invites participants to pull out their smartphone cameras to appreciate the landscape as it transitions through winter. Attendees will be guided by a local photographer as they learn techniques for capturing and sharing the frosty beauty of the park and nearby Champlain Canal. This program will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, Feb. 22 and March 25.
The second program, Fire and Ice, will highlight the serenity of a winter night at the park. Attendees will settle next to a fire pit with hot cider or hot chocolate and look into the night sky for a guided stargazing experience. Scheduled on or near a new moon, the evening will include opportunities to spot seasonal constellations. This program will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 28, Feb. 25 and March 28.
The final program, Searching for Signs of Spring On The Canals, offers participants a peek at spring’s arrival. With a guided hike, attendees will be able to explore the park’s wildflower gardens, listen for migratory birds and spot other telltale signs of spring’s approach. This program will be held at 12:30 p.m. on March 29.
All programs are free, but space is limited and advance registration is required. For more information about the programs, or to sign up, visit the Hudson Crossing Park website.
