Shawnee County Parks and Recreation partners with Coca-Cola for three-year contract
TOPEKA (KSNT) - If you're tired of answering the age old question 'is Pepsi okay?' Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) has you covered.
Shawnee County Commissioners approved a contract with Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company on Thursday, Jan. 2. Now through 2027, Coca-Cola will be the exclusive beverage company for all SCP+R locations.
Products from Heartland Coca-Cola include Dasani, Monster Energy, Powerade and, of course, Coke products. SCP+R Director Tim Laurent says this renewed agreement has some key improvement for the county.
“The last one was four years," Laurent said, "We get an annual payment from Coca-Cola in the amount of $20,000. We only got that for three years out of the four last year, we’ll get it for all three years of this term.”
Additionally, Laurent said compared to the other proposal the team received, they'll save roughly $30,000 on the cost of product.
