Furious Coronation Street bosses haul star in for emergency meeting after bizarre online rant over money
CORONATION Street star Sally Ann Matthews has been hauled into a meeting following her online rant over money.
The 54-year-old, who plays Jenny Bradley, shocked fans as she claimed the hit ITV soap could no longer afford to film on location, before launching into a tirade about filming off set.

A TV insider said: “It’s not the first time Sally has raised eyebrows with her comments.
“It’s no secret that the budget isn’t what it used to be, but it’s not something that the actors are encouraged to speak about publicly.
“She’s due to go in and meet with bosses and talk about how she is feeling on the soap in the general. She’s clearly not happy and neither are they.”
In the concerning video Sally is seen replying to a fan who asked where she would like to film on location.
She quipped: “We don’t do on location … right … ok so the whole ‘Corrie doesn’t do location any more.’
“Thankfully because I fricking hate being on location – location is s**t – I hate it.
“So I’m glad ITV have got no money – am I allowed to say that?
“Well I have said it.”
She then said: “I always hate …” before tailing off.
Corrie has been contacted for comment.
Job worry
Sally’s comments came after fears her role had been axed this summer.
Again she uploaded a worrying clip to social media, where she expressed a desire for “happier times.”
The actress – who plays Rovers Return landlady Jenny Connor in the ITV soap – first appeared on the cobbles in 1986.
She stayed until 1991 before leaving and then returning for a short stint in 1993, before making a full-time return in 2015.
Speaking to fans during a late night Instagram live, Sally Ann told how she hadn’t filmed on the cobbles for a long time – and that fans shouldn’t expect to see her for a long time.
At the time, she said: “I chose to get on an airplane because I’m particularly quiet at work.
“I’ve got like a million years off, so I chose to go on an aeroplane and I chose to remember happier times.”
The star said she has been to Cyprus twice in the past five weeks and added that she is planning to go away again this Saturday.
She continued: “And then I’m going to go back to Cyprus, and do nowt.
“And at some point I might get a job and someone might employ me, potentially.”
Money woes
The Sun recently told how Corrie stars are set to be offered shorter contracts amid falling viewing figures and a financial squeeze.
Cast members fear cash-strapped producers may guarantee contracts only until the end of 2025 – leaving some worrying they won’t be able to pay their mortgages.
The moves come as Coronation Street failed to make the Christmas Day TV top ten.
Just 2.6million viewers watched Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, bid farewell to Weatherfield after 50 years.
