Please welcome new writer Jared Perkins
A new year brings a new writer.
A new year means some new writers here at Royals Review. Some of you may be familiar with Jared Perkins from his time writing at Royals Farm Report and other publications. He has a lot of experience writing about Royals prospects and he’ll continue to cover the farm system here.
Here is more from Jared in his own words:
When I turned 16 in 2007, I had the incredible opportunity to become a clubhouse attendant for the Kansas City Royals during minor-league and extended spring training, as well as the Arizona Rookie League. That experience was transformative, sparking a lifelong connection to the Royals organization. From that first day onward, I’ve been a proud and passionate Royals fan. The memories I made during those early days—working alongside amazing people throughout the organization, seeing firsthand the rise of prospects like Danny Duffy and Salvador Perez, and witnessing the vision and execution of Dayton Moore and his front office team—have stayed with me ever since. Watching their player development plan come to fruition and ultimately lead to back-to-back World Series’ and a World Series title was unforgettable. It’s experiences like these that solidified my passion for the Royals.
About three years ago, I began writing about baseball prospects more broadly, but it didn’t take long for me to narrow my focus to the Royals and their farm system. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to Royals Farm Report, Prospects1500, Prospects Live, and Farm to Fountains. Writing for these platforms has allowed me to dive deep into player development and share insights about the players who will one day wear a Royals uniform at Kauffman Stadium. My work doesn’t stop with the Royals—I also cover college baseball and the MLB Draft as a college baseball and draft analyst for Just Baseball, where I host the On The Clock podcast.
Outside of writing, I work in health policy and live just outside of Washington, D.C., in Maryland, with my wife and our two energetic dogs. While baseball is my first love, my day-to-day work allows me to stay engaged with another passion: improving the systems that help support our communities.
I’m thrilled to join Royals Review and share my insights on Royals baseball and the prospects who make our farm system one of the most exciting parts of this organization. I look forward to connecting with fans who share my enthusiasm for the game and the Royals.
