Snowdonia – Dec’24
Mark C, Peter, Gary, Maggie, Phil, Julie, Mark F, Marion, Andy, Gerry, Simon, Marta
Our annual pilgrimage to somewhere mountainous in the search of snow and early christmas dinner.
Prior to the trip Mark kindly checked the route in advance so that on the day he could lay out a course for us to follow, prep the turkey, prepare the potatoes, Christmas pudding and cake.
Come the weekend of the actual trip storm Darragh tried its best to mess up our plans with forecasts of near hurricane strength winds on the mountain tops. However it takes more than that to stop us intrepid bunch from going out anyway.
A few of us decided to travel up a day later, whilst some of the others either stayed low or headed up high until the winds around 700m got just too strong.
Suitably battered we all enjoyed a magnificent early Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.
On the Sunday, Andy was the only one who was able to complete Mark’s original course which in places was semi-submerged after the heavy rains.
A few of us stayed on an extra day and we had glorious clear blue skies and the winds started to finally ease up…
