2 injured in Gold Coast hi-rise blaze
Two adults suffered smoke inhalation after a fire erupted at Newberry Plaza Thursday morning on the Gold Coast.
Around 7 a.m., firefighters responded to the fire at the high rise condo complex at 1030 N. State St., Chicago Fire Department officials posted on X.
Two adults were taken to Stroger Hospital. One was in serious condition and the other in good condition.
The fire was in a single unit on the 15th floor and it was extinguished less than half an hour later, according to fire officials.

Its cause was not known immediately but was under investigation.
Due to street blockage, the CTA's #36 Broadway buses were temporarily rerouted in both directions via State, Oak and Clark streets, according to an alert from the transit agency. They resume their normal route near State/Chestnut streets, according to the alert, which urged travelers to allow extra travel time.
