Weekend Watch: Tabletop RPGs and free concerts in Austin
AUSTIN (KXAN)-- From gaming lovers to rock music listeners, this weekend has a little something for everyone to enjoy no matter where you are in Central Austin. The weather looks to cooperate to start off before a chance of rain picks up on Sunday.
Tabletop RPG in San Marcos
Tabletop RPG games can be a little daunting to start, especially if you love them already but don't know where to meet people who love them as well. The San Marcos Public Library is hosting the Tabletop RPG Club Saturday, January 4th from 2 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. According to their website, there will be table set ups for Dungeons and Dragons, Traveller, Battle Tech, and many more.
The club meets every two weeks and all skill levels are invited to attend. For more information be sure to visit their website.
Free Week returns to Austin
In a tradition dating back to 2003, Free Week returns to downtown Austin. This takes place the first weekend in January each year and it's expected to be the biggest one yet. 12 venues across 6 Street open their doors and host free concerts featuring regional and local bands.
A few of the bars participating include: Barbella, Chess Club, Cheer Up Charlie's, Stubb's, Swan Dive, and many more. Cities from Austin to Nashville participate in the annual event, which will run Jan. 3-4 and hosted by the Red River Cultural District.
