Al Jazeera Broadcasts suspended in Palestine
International media outlets have reported that Palestine has recently decided to halt the broadcasting of Al Jazeera and shut down its office in the country due to the network’s “incitement” of news.
The Palestinian Authority announced late on Wednesday, January 1, that the activities of the Qatari-owned Al Jazeera network had been banned for allegedly “violating internal laws and regulations” and broadcasting “incendiary” content.
According to reports, a committee composed of Palestine’s Ministers of Culture, Interior, and Communications made the decision to take this action.
Additionally, in a report by the Palestinian news agency Wafa, it was claimed that this decision was made due to the network’s broadcast of “provocative content, false news, and its role in sowing division and interfering in Palestine’s internal affairs.”
It is important to note that the suspension is temporary and will remain in place until Al Jazeera complies with the laws and regulations of Palestine.
Meanwhile, the Al Jazeera network condemned the recent move by the Palestinian Authority, issuing an official statement in response to the closure of its office in the West Bank.
