Chris Davies - cut the guy some slack (7 replies)
First Season as a football manager, he is inexperienced and naive.
I personally believe he has done very well with practically a brand new squad of players who have not played together before.
Bring in to the mix the depressive fog and toxicity around the club the past 4 or 5 seasons to get 15 wins in first 22 games is impressive.
He has made a few mistakes but he is no different to john Eustace when he took over!. It was clear to see he was learning on the job, coming across seasoned managers who were able to tactically switch it up.
League one is a truly awful league with narrow bumpy pitches and run down stadiums, playing against opposition who want to put men behind the ball and bully you as they cant do much else.
I have probably seen one game this season in the league where a team tried to play us off the pitch and that was Bristol Rovers at home, every other team try and play high press and and put 11 behind the ball, add in shitty bumpy pitches it is hard to break teams down.
When Derby were relegated they Sacked Rosenior as he was unable to deliver instant results. Chris Davies has done far far better.
I do think we will go up quite comfortably this season however I am unsure how the manager and players will handle next year in championship
