Meghan Markle ‘set to earn £800,000 per POST’ on her new Instagram account… but turns OFF comments to avoid backlash
MEGHAN Markle is set to earn £800,000 per post on her new Instagram account, it is claimed.
However, the Duchess of Sussex has reportedly switched comments off on her new Instagram account to avoid any backlash.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun the post may have a “hidden message”.
In footage, understood to have been filmed by husband Prince Harry, the mum-of-two can be seen walking on the beach near Montecito, California.
Meghan can then be seen drawing the digits 2025 into the sand while wearing an all-white ensemble.
She finally turns to the camera grins before playfully running away.
The clip was captioned simply “@meghan”.
Experts have previously estimated the former Hollywood actress, 43, could make $1milllion (£790,000) per post as “an absolute minimum”, reports MailOnline.
The launch of the duchess’ new account – replacing her old meghanmarkle Instagram which boasted 3 million followers – comes after the Sussexes swore to stay of social media.
The couple said they had had to deal with an “almost unsurvivable” amount of abuse.
The beach clip – Meghan’s first social media post in years – was uploaded on Wednesday but fans questioned why she’d turned off comments.
One person labelled her a “coward”, though many others showed support for the decision.
“A narcissist always turns the comments off,” one comment read. “A girl has got to stay relevant.”
Another added: “Connect with fans? She disabled the comments.”
Others recognised her reasons for doing so, with one person writing: “I’m glad she turned off those comments for peace of mind.”
And another said: “Good on Meghan for turning off the comments on her IG. She doesn’t need any toxicity from weirdos.”
The duchess wiped all her social media and deleted her blog after marrying Harry, 40, in 2018.
However, the couple did post professionally through their Sussex Royal Instagram and X accounts – before stopping when they stepped down as working royals in 2020.
Meghan’s new page currently has 635k followers but she is not following anyone herself.
The profile picture features the duchess smiling in a black and white shot.
HIDDEN MESSAGE
Ms Seward told the Sun yesterday Meghan wants to start the new year off on a “strong note”, separate from Harry and their kids Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
She said: “There’s always there’s always a hidden message with Meghan.
“I think it’s a positive message: ‘Hi, I’m here. I’m back. I’m doing my thing, and Harry will be doing his thing, and I should be doing mine’ – and I think it’s just a positive message.
“They’ve been sort of dogged a bit last year by lots of rumours about the state of their marriage, and whether Harry was happy and why we haven’t seen more of Meghan, and I think she realizes that she wants to start 2025 on a very positive and sort of strong note.
“You know, ‘look at me, I’m here. Watch out for me and what I’m doing.'”
And Ingrid explained why Meghan may have chosen to leave Harry or the children out of the clip – claiming it sends a clear message.
The Royal expert said: “It’s nothing to do with her and the children or her and Harry – it’s just her.
“I think it’s all about Meghan – ‘I’ve done my mothering bit. You’re not going to see my kids,’ you know.
“She’s been very, very careful to keep them out of camera range, and it’s her.
“And I think she needs to do this, because, she hasn’t had a good year press wise in 2024, and she needs to.”
For nearly a year there have been rumours that Meghan, 43, is making her own show celebrating “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”.
But there has been little update on the series – supposed to complement her luxury brand American Riviera Orchard – with no release date in sight.
