Tottenham fight Barcelona to sign Radu Dragusin’s Romania teammate
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a move for one La Liga defender, who is expected to leave his club in the upcoming transfer window.
Tottenham eyeing move for experienced La Liga defender
With less than 24 hours to go until the transfer window opens, a number of names across Europe are now being linked with a move to North London.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of them are defenders, with Ange Postecoglou‘s men evidently in need of reinforcements at the back in light of their recent injury woes.
The latest name to be mooted as a target for Spurs is Radu Dragusin‘s international teammate, Andrei Ratiu, who plays as a right-back for Rayo Vallecano.
Tottenham battling La Liga giants for Andrei Ratiu
According to the print edition of Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by Sport Witness), Spurs have been impressed with Ratiu‘s displays this season and are plotting a move for him.
However, they are not the only ones to do so, with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma also keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.
The outlet explains that Barca may have an advantage over others as they have a good relationship with Ratiu’s agent.
The publication adds that the right-back has a release clause of €25m (£20.7m) in his contract and is expected to leave Rayo Vallecano in January.
Tottenham do not need a right-back
Given all the areas across the pitch that Tottenham need to reinforce, it would be a complete waste if the club spent a portion of their transfer budget on a new right-back.
In Pedro Porro, Archie Gray and Djed Spence, Ange Postecoglou has three decent options for the right-back role and the Australian is likely to prioritise additions at centre-back, centre-midfield and in the forward line.
