New Year's Eve celebrations across the tri-state
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Times Square may have the ball drop but there are many other New Year’s happenings across the tri-state area.
For a sweet twist on New Year's Eve we start in Hackettstown, New Jersey where, for the second year in a row, a giant M&M will drop at midnight. The family-friendly event will have food and entertainment for everyone starting at 8 p.m.
Another family-friendly event in Passaic will ring in 2025 with their annual pinata drop from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will be entertainment and food trucks slinging area eats
On Long Island, Farmingdale's earlier ball drop will get things started for those looking to get things wrapped up a little earlier. The early ball drop will happen on the Village Green from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. but it will feel just like the real thing with live music and noise makers for the kids.
Alternatively, you can take a trip back in time with the MetroNorth holiday trains. Two trains run from Grand Central up the New Haven line for the last time on Tuesday.
If you're not ready to leave behind all the drones we saw this year, you can head to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Fireworks shows across the city might be canceled, but there will still be a light show in Brooklyn's backyard.
The Prospect Park drone show will be New York-themed, lighting the sky with images of the Brooklyn Bridge and other NYC landmarks.
If the couch is more your speed, check out the coast-to-coast countdown airing on PIX11. The live broadcast will bring you from your living room to Las Vegas with performances from legendary music groups like the Jacksons and Foreigner.
Those brave enough can celebrate New Year's Day with the annual Polar Bear Plunge on Coney Island. You can join in or just watch starting at 11 a.m. on New Year's Day.
