Lake George fatal boat crash convict granted parole
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Service announced the man convicted in the 2016 fatal Lake Geroge boat crash will soon be out on parole. The Parole Board granted Alex West a Tuesday release date of February 11, 2025, or earlier.
In the summer of 2016, West operated a boat under the influence when he crashed into another boat and killed 8-year-old Charlotte McCue. He was found guilty in 2017 of manslaughter, assault, and leaving the scene of an accident. West was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.
When deciding, Board of Parole members consider and hear statements from the victim's family and review West's criminal history. Members also consider district and defense attorneys' recommendations and sentencing courts about West's release to community supervision.
