New Horizons - Favourite High-rise
As we approach the end of 2024 I've been watching some videos of new constructions in and around Birmingham City Centre, clearly some of the more 'known' tall buildings may become hidden (or demolished) as new larger buildings begin to dwarf them (some are already gone) anyone remember the accomodation tower block attached to the south side of New Street Station?
Despite the financial doom and gloom its quite clear that things are going to change in a big way in the coming decade.
For me
1) Rotunda (iconic) aka the Coca Cola Tower as a youth, due to the ads on the summit which are long gone, although its a shame they changed the windows and shape of the summit of the building which (I think) has spoiled the building.
2) Five Ways Tower. Building looked great if you happened to be walking north along the B'ham Worcester Canal to see it rising above the tree line with its untra modern blacked out windows, but now an abandoned relic standing empty for 2 decades
3) GPO Tower. A mass of cables and dishes before it was reduced to its fairly bleak current state.
