GOP's Katie Britt seen as major player by Trump despite being hit by ridicule: report
Donald Trump will likely rely on a rising Republican star to serve as one of his most trusted advisers in the U.S. Senate, according to a new report.
First-term Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) often serves as a high-profile messenger for Republicans, including with her widely mocked and criticized rebuttal to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address. But she's looking to leverage her relationship with Trump to boost her standing in the Senate's 53-seat GOP majority, reported NOTUS.
“She’ll have Trump and will certainly have his ear, and he will probably make some of his changes right in line with things that she has on her mind,” said Joan Reynolds, vice chair of the Alabama Republican Party, adding that anyone who works directly with the president-elect would have a "bright" future.
Britt is known for engaging on abortion, child care and immigration, and Trump cited her during the campaign as a strong influence on his position on IVF. She'll ascend this year to the high-profile Senate Judiciary Committee and take on a new role as vice chair for the National Republican Senatorial Committee's 2026 election cycle.
“When she calls, people pick the phone up, or people will come to a fundraiser again,” said Terry Lathan, former chair of the Alabama GOP. “I don’t think you put people in that position if they don’t have any pull and that people ignore. That’s not going to happen with her.”
Her GOP colleagues, including retiring Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), praised Britt as a respected voice who commands attention, and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) told NOTUS that he’s “a big fan.”

“Our politics are different, that’s not a weakness,” said Fetterman, who collaborated with Britt on a bill to protect children’s mental health on social media. “It just means that we disagree. She’s a quality human being, and that’s the kind of people that should be involved [in] this.”
But most importantly, she's got Trump's ear, and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said she should serve as a model to fellow Republicans.
“We all better be Donald Trump fans,” Tuberville said. "[Otherwise] we’re gonna have problems for the next four years. We all need to get on the same page, and Katie is a big fan.”
