Parents called ‘idiots’ after revealing they want to call their baby after a toilet in a bid to be more modern
A MUM has been slammed for her unusual choice of baby name, after she revealed she has chosen a toilet based moniker.
Choosing a name for your baby can be an incredibly difficult task as you want to make sure you pick something unique, but not so out there that your child gets bullied.
Some people opt to name their child after a family member, whilst others choose to name their offspring after a favourite book or film character.
But one mum has taken to the bathroom to find inspiration for her daughter’s name.
A screenshot from an Instagram post posted to Reddit showed a woman sharing that she loved the name Katrina but thought it was too common to name her child that.
She also loved the name Larissa, but thought that it was too old of name for a baby.
Instead, she decided to mix the names together, and went with Latrina.
Latrina means toilet in both Italian and Portuguese and also sounds similar to the English word latrine, which means the same thing.
The post was flooded with responses from Reddit users, many of whom thought it was cruel of the mum to give her child such an unusual name.
One person said: “You literally named your daughter after a toilet. Well done.”
A second person said: “They should name her future sister Toiletta.”
A third person said: “I knew a Latrina.
“It was a really unfortunate name given by an idiot mother and father.”
A fourth person said: “People that name their kids like this should burn in hell.”
A fifth chimed in: “Tell Latrina to NEVER come to Italy.
`’People are going to be brutal, it doesn’t mean just “toilet”, but rather ‘filthy toilet.'”
Banned Names in the UK
The UK has no law restricting names, but names that contain obscenities, numerals, misleading titles, or are impossible to pronounce are likely to be rejected when registering a child.
