I splashed out on the viral H&M sparkly shorts but it was an epic fail – I got a size 18 but could barely do them up
SHE wanted a cute, sparkly outfit for Christmas.
So when she saw H&M’s rhinestone-embellished shorts going viral, Chloe decided to splash out on a pair.
The shorts went viral when they hit H&M stores earlier this year[/caption]However, when she tried to get them on, Chloe quickly realised she’d made a mistake.
She took to TikTok to share a video of herself wearing the sparkly bottoms, which she’d bought in a size 18 for £69.99.
“Don’t know if anyone else has seen the new H&M viral sparkly shorts?” she began her video.
She then moved away from the camera to show the shorts in all their glory, as she admitted they were “so tight”.
“I’m surprised we managed to get these done up,” she added.
As her fiance could be heard off camera saying: “I feel embarrassed even recording this!”
He also couldn’t figure out when Chloe would wear the shorts, or “what they’re for”, with the influencer laughing: “They remind me of my shorts that I wore to Magaluf!”
“Another day another H&M fail,” Chloe captioned the video.
And she was quickly inundated with people praising her for the “realness” of the video in the comments section.
“I love that you still posted this!” one wrote.
“You’re 100% real, and this is why we love you.”
I” mean we wouldn’t have to ask what u had for dinner!” another laughed.
“Oh my god. I almost wet myself,” a third giggled, adding: “We love you Chlo!”
“Love an honest, real review,” someone else wrote.
As another laughed that they “wear knickers bigger than them, so funny!!”
“Absolutely howling!” someone else said.
How to look chic on a budget
Fashion stylist Gemma Rose Breger, and beauty journalist Samantha Silver revealed how you can make your outfits elevated without spending hundreds of pounds.
- Don’t ever spend on designer denim: River Island ”always has such a great selection of fashion-forward jeans that follow the current trends”. The high street retailer offers a great range of sizes to fit UK 6 – UK 18, and three leg lengths – and prices start from an affordable £25.
- There are no rules for jewels: ”Pick up something at a car boot sale, or charity shop, scroll on Vinted & eBay, snap up something from the clothing section in your local supermarket when doing the food shop or check out high street clothing stores.”
- Don’t forget the pre-loved sites: With a rising number of second-hand sites, such as Vinted and Depop, there’s no excuse for not buying – or selling – pre-loved garments. Gemma, for instance, has managed to get her hands on chic Chanel sunnies for a mere £17.
While others agreed with Chloe’s remark in the comments section that the sizing in the high street store is “awful”.
“Doesn’t sizing just blow your mind?” one wrote.
“H&M are laughing at us with their sizing,” another insisted.
“I stopped buying clothes from them cause even for kids is getting silly now.”
“H&M sizing is wild! Your skin is glowing on another note!” a third commented.
And some people even had some unflattering comparisons for the shorts.
“They’re like fancy school gym knickers,” one laughed.
“They are giving boujie maternity nappy pants,” another suggested.
“It’s giving WWE wrestler,” a third said, calling it “so so funny”.
“It’s giving adult novice cheerleader,” someone else giggled.
