Zendaya-Fronted Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami Re-Edition Spans Sneakers, Mules and Platforms
2025 will bring with it the re-edition of Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami’s prized collection. First debuted in 2002 in a runway show under the direction of Marc Jacobs, the line was initially put up for sale in 2003. It quickly became coveted with the likes of Jennifer Lopez fronting a campaign while stars like Paris Hilton and even the fictional Regina George of “Mean Girls” wearing pieces. And though the line was halted in 2015, its now being re-released by the brand.
Dropping on Jan. 1, the first of the re-edition will release. It spans more than 100 products including bags, trunks and other accessories. Amongst them is a line-up of shoes. Amongst the shoe styles included is a mule in multiple heights done in both black and white.
Zendaya, who is the face of the collection’s relaunch in a campaign styled by Law Roach, wears the mules throughout the campaign. In particular, she wears the black mule with the multicolored LV monogram all over it. The style includes an open toe and a heel with a flared base. Hers did not appear to include a tan strap accent that some of the mules from the collection do.
Earlier this month, Latto appeared on the cover of Ebony magazine wearing pieces from the original line. In the images, she screams into a pair of the original collection’s mule slippers as if they were a phone. Credits indicate that the mules were sourced from Roach’s personal archive.
In addition to the mule slippers, the edition also includes slides. Some of these designs include pocket pouches on the top. A ballet flat also is included, featuring a Mary Jane strap across the top. Ballet flats were trending in 2023 and 2024. To complete the early 2000s style, there’s also a wedge platform.
Two sneaker styles round out. the range. One silhouette comes in white with the rainbow monogram all over with a contrasting version in black. The second silhouette is all white with an embossed monogram. It also features charms on the laces.
