Spruce Kings Sign Johnson, Lose Reay
The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed goaltender Dylan Johnson (05) for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season, as Colin Reay requires season ending surgery.
“Colin had an MRI over the break on an existing groin/hip injury,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes, “a tear was discovered that requires immediate season ending surgery. Colin has been a great addition to our program, and we look forward to him rejoining us for the 2025-2026 season.”
Johnson is 6’1, 200 pounds from Dallas, Texas has played six games in the USHL this season between Dubuque and Green Bay, putting up a 3-2 record with a 3.73 Goals Against Average and .853 Save %.
Prior to his time in the USHL, Johnson spent two seasons in the NAHL, winning the Robertson Cup with the Oklahoma Warriors in 2023. In 34 games, he put up a 14-15-1-2 record with a 2.81 GAA and .914 Save %.
“We are extremely fortunate that Dylan was available and was very interested in joining our team,” said Hawes, “He’s a veteran goaltender who will come in and work with Ryder Green as we look to have a great second half of the season.”
Johnson is in Prince George and will be in the lineup when the Spruce Kings return to the ice tomorrow (Saturday December 28th) at 6 PM against the Nanaimo Clippers. The second half of the doubleheader goes on Sunday December 29th at 3 PM. Tickets available at www.sprucekings.bc.ca.
