Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster Are Keeping Their Reported Romance off the Radar Longer Than Expected
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s reported relationship took fans by surprise, but Broadway insiders seemed to have the inside track on what was going on while they were starring in The Music Man together. Now that they are free to openly date after splitting from their spouses, the talented duo is allegedly keeping their romance off the paparazzi’s radar.
Their biggest concern appears to be Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness who is “still hurt” by the alleged affair, per Closer Weekly. “They’re very passionate about each other and want the same things,” a source said. “But they’re trying to move forward in a caring, considerate way.” There is also Foster’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Ted Griffin, as well as their daughter, Emily, 7, and Jackman’s adult children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, to consider, too.
Jackman was married to Furness for 27 years and Sutton was married to Griffin for a decade. They didn’t expect such a “backlash” to their relationship and that’s why their red-carpet debut is on hold for now. “They are a bit shocked by the backlash they received. They expected some of it, but not this much,” a second insider told Closer Weekly in early December. “But they’re figuring it out and are hopeful something can be worked out.”
Furness was the “last to know” about her husband’s reported fling, per the Daily Mail, and was “seething with rage” at Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively for not tipping her off, according to RadarOnline. “They kept their lips sealed out of loyalty to Hugh,” a source alleged to the media outlet. “Debs feels cheated by all three because someone could have told her what was happening, and they all chose to keep their mouths shut.”
Furness has remained silent about the affair allegations surrounding Jackman, but she did “like” gossip influence Tasha Lustig’s Instagram post about the entanglement. The 68-year-old actress’ BFF Amanda de Cadenet also chimed in the comments, adding, “You are on point with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment fyi!”
The first Closer Weekly source said that Jackman and Foster are “taking their romance one day at a time.” That means no talk of marriage even though their relationship is quite “serious” — they are enjoying their time privately before they share their love with the world publicly.
For now, Jackman and Foster are keeping their romance to themselves.
