Who did music lovers listen to the most in 2024? The answer is not all that surprising...
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Spotify released its highly anticipated "Spotify Wrapped" for 2024, recapping the year in music and revealing trends not just for each individual user but for the world over.
And what were music listeners listening to this year? A lot of Taylor Swift.
The decorated pop star topped the charts not just in the United States but globally for the second year in a row with 26.6 billion song streams - a half-billion increase from last year. For reference, with an average song length of three minutes, that would be roughly 151,826 years worth of streaming.
She was joined by some familiar names on Spotify's most listened-to artists. The Weeknd and Bad Bunny were the second and third most streamed artists in 2024, switching spots from their 2023 rankings. Drake holds his spot at No. 4 and Billie Eilish jumped into the top rankings worldwide to round out the Top 5.
The full Top 10 most-streamed artists on Spotify can be found below:

- Travis Scott
- Peso Pluma
- Kanye West
- Ariana Grande Feid
Despite being the most-streamed artist for 2024, it seems no one listened to just one Taylor Swift song over and over as they did for other artists. Swift's "Cruel Summer" from her 2019 album "Lover" appeared at No. 9 in the Top 10 most-streamed songs globally and is her only song that made the list. But Swift can take solace in knowing it's the only song to make the list in both 2023 and 2024.
Sabrina Carpenter takes the crown for having the most-streamed song with her chart-topping single "Espresso." Released in April, the song quickly became the song of the summer spending 33 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 3.
Below are the Top 10 most-streamed songs on Spotify for 2024:
- "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter
- "Beautiful Things" by Benson Boone
- "BIRDS OF A FEATHER" by Billie Eilish
- "Gata Only" by FloyyMenor, Cris Mj

A few other notable trends from 2024 mentioned by Spotify were artists exploring new genres such as Beyoncé, Shaboozey, and Post Malone breaking into the country scene. Collaborations between artists such as Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars or Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus also captured listeners' attention in the last year, according to Spotify.
