Jeannie Mai Celebrates Her Daughter’s Elf Returning to the North Pole & It’s Such a Mood: ‘I’m Tired’
If your family gets visited by an Elf on the Shelf over the holidays, then Christmas Day brings a breath of fresh air — all elves have safely returned to the North Pole (aka, Mom’s closet) not be seen again until next year on Dec. 1. It’s the break you never realized you needed! Christmas being officially over means no more thinking up elaborate elf displays for your kids; no more panic-waking up in the middle of the night because you forgot to move the elf; no more pressure to have cool and unique elf shenanigans for your kids to compare at school! It’s the best feeling! Jeannie Mai is celebrating after saying goodbye to her daughter Monaco’s Elf on the Shelf for the year, and it’s such a mood.
“Who else is excited these elves go back to the northside cuz ✌???????????? IM TIRED,” The Real host posted on her daughter’s Instagram page on Thursday. (Tired mom, here — I’m definitely excited!) She also posted a video of some of the elf’s shenanigans, including one moment where Monaco discovered several of her shirts and panties tied together to form a rope for the elf to climb. Her elf, named McCutty, was at the end, buried in a box of Cheerios.
“Elf on the Shelf got CoCo’s business all out in the streets, something must be done ???????????? This Elf must be stopped! ????????????” one person commented.
The Raid the Cage host shared more photos of her holiday shenanigans with her daughter, who she shares with ex Jeezy, which included more elf moments. Like one, with the elf wrapped in a tissue paper “towel” and headwrap with tiny cucumbers over her eyes, or another, where she was stuck to the window outside their tall apartment. “Stop that. It’s dangerous out there,” Monaco tells the elf in the cute video. They also got to go to Disney World for the holidays, where Monaco looked so happy seeing the giant Christmas tree, a green army man from Toy Story, and more.
“A few of Mai favorite things… including Disneyworld for my baby’s Christmas ????????????” Mai captioned the post. She added, “also nobody told me this elf thing would have me working like I’m gettin paid cuz WHET ????????MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE MAI FAM????”
The elves really do have us working extra hard during December (whose idea was it to add more work to a mom’s plate during the holidays?!).
Parents could definitely relate. “❤️ The elf is a JOB!! This year was the 1st I didn’t bring him out due to my last child not believing. Ive done it for the past 11 years (w 3 kids)????,” one person said. Mai responded, “ma’am did u say ELEVEN years ??? ???? omg you’re a MOM mom. after two of these ideas I was like 2025 pull UPP????????????.”
Others commented on the fact that Mai makes it slightly easier on herself by letting her daughter hold the elf. (Traditionally, the elf “loses his magic” if you touch it, and now it’s a part-time job just trying to get my toddler not to touch it.) “Lol. I love that she holds her Elf,” one person wrote. “I let my kid hold her elf as well. I let her take it to the movies and I just knew chaos was about to ensue. ???? I was correct. We ran into a school friend who literally screamed when she saw my daughter holding her elf. ????♀️”
“wait FACTS!” Mai responded. “We dont do the whole ‘no touching your elf’ rule. Like why? Do u know how funny it was to have this elf show up sitting next to Monaco on her spinning teacup at Disney ????????????” Oh, we wish we could have seen Monaco’s face for that one!
Mai definitely had fun with her Elf on the Shelf this year, but like many busy moms, she’s relieved that elf season is officially over!
