MLB Rumors: NL West Club Interested In Potential Red Sox Target
The Red Sox need a right-handed bat to round out the lineup but will face stiff competition.
Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow acknowledged the need for a right-handed bat along with frontline starters. Boston reportedly plans to pivot in that direction after agreeing to a one-year deal with Walker Buehler. Teoscar Hernández is one of the top sluggers on the market, and there might be mutual interest between the sides.
However, the Los Angeles Dodgers are keen on bringing back the All-Star outfielder and other teams also could be interested. One interested team is the San Francisco Giants, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.
“Even after extending Matt Chapman and signing (Willy) Adames, the Giants could look to add another bat, with (Pete) Alonso, Anthony Santander, Jurickson Profar and Teoscar Hernández among the potential options,” Feinsand wrote this week.
The Giants also are among the favorites to sign Corbin Burnes, However, Feinsand added that San Fran might be getting impatient with the star pitcher and could pivot elsewhere.
Hernández likely will want to sign a multi-year deal, so he’ll be patient as he decides which team he wants to sign with.
