Troy collecting real Christmas trees to recycle
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Troy's Quality of Life Action crews will be collecting real Christmas trees from residences to recycle. Residents can place their real trees on the curb during their regular collection day between January 2 and January 13.
“As part of our continued Quality of Life Action efforts in our city and prioritizing sustainable disposal practices that are environmentally responsible and economically sensible, the City of Troy will be picking up real Christmas trees and offering Christmas tree free drop-offs at the Alamo starting in January," said Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello.
Residents may also bring their old Christmas trees to the Troy Resource Management Facility on the corner of Main Street and E. Industrial Parkway on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. between January 2 and January 13.
To make sure your Christmas tree is recycled, make sure to take off all ornaments, lights, and decorations and remove the tree stand. Rather than going in a landfill, real trees can be turned into mulch or can naturally break down over time.
