One person shot, another hit by getaway vehicle, Lafayette Police say
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- One person was shot and another person was hit by a vehicle presumably leaving the scene early this morning, according to Lafayette Police.
Lafayette Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of E. Simcoe Street at 2:45 a.m. Thursday to a report of gunfire in the area. Officers found a vehicle crash which resulted in one victim being shot. They also located a pedestrian who investigators said had been struck by a fleeing vehicle after the shooting occurred.
The pedestrian sustained minor injury that did not require medical attention, and the victim of the shooting was later located at a local hospital where he had been brought by private transportation, authorities said. The victim sustained one gunshot wound to the chest that police said they believe is not life-threatening.
