The Traitors fans stunned as BBC airs crossover with another show just days before series three
THE Traitors fans were left stunned on Christmas Day night when BBC aired an exciting crossover with another show.
The third season of The Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, will begin airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on January 1, 2025, at 8pm – with a sneaky teaser being shown last night.
But last night, on Christmas Day night before the epic Gavin & Stacey finale, fans tuning in were stunned when The Traitors and another TV show merged for a couple of moments.
Fans tuning into BBC One on Christmas Day after Wallace and Gromit and before Gavin & Stacey witnessed a thrilling new indent.
The exciting advert saw a character from Wallace and Gromit being unmasked as one of The Traitors, leaving fans reeling in delight.
In the ident, Feathers McGraw appeared and was unmasked, with fans reacting on X.
Reacting to the iconic advert, one person wrote: “A WALLACE AND GROMIT ADVERT FOR THE TRAITORS!! 10/10.”
“#FeathersMcGraw advertising The Traitors at the end of Wallace & Gromit was a genius idea! @BBCOne #TheTraitors,” penned another.
A third then said: “Wallace & Gromit x Traitors. So, so good.”
“A Wallace and Gromit Traitors promo was more enjoyable than Doctor Who,” penned a fourth.
A fifth person then said: “I’m assuming we’ll be getting another Wallace & Gromit film or short film in the future. They have to catch Feathers McGraw. Loved his The Traitors cameo.”
FANS THOUGHT THE ADVERT ‘WON CHRISTMAS’
While a sixth added: “The Wallace and Gromit #Traitors trailer has won Christmas.”
And a seventh person said: “It was brilliant, it had a slight chill to that trailer with Feathers McGraw. Well done BBC!”
The very clever ident, promoting The Traitors, played after viewers tuned into the new flick Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
The all-new Wallace and Gromit movie premiered on BBC One and iPlayer at 6.10pm on Christmas Day, with the movie ending moments before Gavin & Stacey: The Finale aired.
According to the synopsis of the film, Gromit was concerned that Wallace had become over-dependent on his inventions, which was proven justified when he invented a smart gnome that seemed to develop a mind of its own.

- A Grand Day Out (1989): The pair’s very first adventure, a short film which premiered at an animation festival in Bristol. It was broadcast on Channel 4 on Christmas Day 1990. It was also the first time that Last of the Summer Wine actor Peter Sallis voiced Wallace.
- The Wrong Trousers (1993): This second short film premiered in 1993 and introduced the villain Feathers McGraw. It won the Academy Award for Best Short Film.
- A Close Shave (1995): The duo’s third short film which also featured the debut of Shaun, the future title character of Shaun the Sheep.
- Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005): The first feature-length Wallace and Gromit film, which featured the voices of Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter and Peter Kay alongside that of Peter Sallis as Wallace. This film’s critical acclaim included winning a number of awards, namely the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

- Wallace and Gromit’s Cracking Contraptions (2002): A series of ten stop-motion animation shorts of approximately one to three minutes each. All ten shorts were aired on BBC One.
- Wallace and Gromit’s World of Invention (2010): A science-themed miniseries and Peter Sallis’ last acting project before his retirement. Sallis died in 2017, at the age of 96.
CHRISTMAS DAY TELLY RATINGS
When the animated movie finished, the ident played, leaving fans feeling even more excited ahead of the Gavin & Stacey finale.
The epic finale of Gavin & Stacey then aired for 95 minutes from 9pm, with fans left both gobsmacked and content by the episode.
The final ever episode of Gavin & Stacey came 17 years after the show first aired, and five years since its last Christmas special which ended on a cliffhanger when Ness proposed to Smithy.
And according to the ratings, it was the biggest Christmas Day in decades for television, with the BBC having a stunner of a day figures-wise.
Wallace and Gromit raked in 9.4million viewers, while Gavin & Stacey had over 12.3million.
