Italy donates over €4 million to Afghanistan
The Italian Embassy has pledged 4.5 million euros to Afghanistan’s humanitarian fund to support relief efforts.
On Tuesday, the embassy reiterated its commitment to ongoing humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan.
The donation aims to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan with a swift and effective response.
This donation is in addition to Japan’s 1.5 million dollar contribution to support returning migrants in Afghanistan.
As winter sets in, international organizations have warned of growing humanitarian needs across Afghanistan.
According to OCHA, at least 14.8 million people in Afghanistan will face acute food insecurity by March 2025.
Italy also announced an additional 3.5 million euros to support vulnerable returnees and displaced persons through the International Organization for Migration.
The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan worsens due to the harsh winter, causing increased suffering. Global aid is crucial, yet the need continues to grow as millions face food insecurity.
International support, including Italy’s contributions, is essential for providing immediate relief but long-term solutions are necessary for Afghanistan’s sustainable recovery.
